Dinosaur Eyes

He has chain marks across his neck
marking the day
his pain
outweighed
hope

Where he lost faith his hands could undo
the broken in his soul
a promise
even the strongest eyes go dark
his big blue eyes used to have hope
you just fell into
big blue pools of sorrow mourn that lost hope

I miss the little boy who loved dinosaurs
and played army for hours every day
I keep losing myself in demons where dinosaurs used to play

I see humanity
holding back shadows
with a shoestring
I fear
it’s losing

I miss the little boy
whose chains
were mountains
for plastic green armies
not ropes
for finding
HOPE
